Free ice cream for hula hoopers in Washington Sq Park

To kick off the start of summer, Nestle hopes to lure hundreds of people into a mass hula-hoop session Wednesday in Washington Square Park with the promise of free ice cream.

The hula hooping event begins at 11:30 a.m. near a “locked ice cream bunker” filled with Drumstick ice cream cones. It will open once enough people have joined in, according to a company spokeswoman.

Nestle will bring the hula hoops.

The event will take place near 1 Washington Square East.

Elsewhere this week, the Sweetery will be at multiple locations on Wednesday and Thursday giving away “all natural ice treats” as a promotion from its special Clinique Food Network Sweetery truck.
